ABout the Company

RiverSong Music Therapy is a Private Practice active in the Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley area. We work with people of all abilities, with a focus on seniors with dementia, young children, and adults with mental health concerns.

A little about the owner:

Katie Husvar, MT-BC

Katie is a Board-Certified Music Therapist with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. She holds a humanistic understanding of therapy work, seeing the value of each client she meets, and the holistic ways they interact with the world around them.

Katie is vocally trained and uses singing and other instrument playing to creatively work with her clients to support their needs. She has worked with a wide array of individuals, including toddlers, children with Autism and other special needs, veterans in psychiatric settings, adults with Traumatic Brain Disorder (TBI), and seniors with dementia and other health concerns.

Considering herself a lifelong learner, Katie approaches each person with cultural humility and the desire to understand more about what values are important to them. She is committed to treating her client and those around them as the best experts of themselves.

Katie is new to Alaska and excited to meet the unique individuals who live here.

In her spare time Katie is a curious explorer, enjoying getting out of the house to hike or go ice skating. She loves reading and nurturing her plants, and spending time with family and friends.
